City of Tucson asks volunteers to fill budget gapsPosted: Updated:
The City of Tucson is looking for a few good volunteers.
But according to officials, the community service spots will not replace the nearly 1,000 positions left open by layoffs and other workforce reductions.
Praise came Monday from Mayor Bob Walkup for more than a dozen people already giving their time to improve their communities.
He and city staffers want to get the word out, Tucson needs volunteers to fill the gaps left by budget cuts.
