Tire blowout causes fatal collision on Highway 95Posted: Updated:
YUMA, Ariz. -- One man was killed and three others were injured in a collision on Highway 95 Monday evening.
According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, a 1978 Ford pickup truck was southbound on the highway near County 12 1/2 Street when its left front tire blew out. The vehicle veered into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup.
The driver of the Ford truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Jesus Ayon-Flores, 55, of Somerton, Ariz.
The other driver, Alejandro Mendoza, 50, and his two passengers, Juan Mendoza, 38, and Noe Lizarraga, 22, all of Phoenix, were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to the sheriff's office.
