MESA, Ariz. – A driver who may have suffered a medical condition crashed into at least two cars on a Mesa street before crashing in reverse into another home.

Police say a man in his 50s was driving a late-model SUV Friday afternoon when it appears he lost control in the area of Guadalupe and the Loop 101.

The driver reportedly crashed into two cars on one side of the road and then put his SUV in reverse and crashed into another home across the street, causing severe damage.

“I’m devastated,” said Norine Nelson, owner of the damaged house. “I’m just thanking God she [her daughter, Kelly] wasn’t home. She was coming home…from a job interview.”

Before crashing into Nelson’s home, the man drove onto the curb across the street and slammed into neighbor Marjorie Guy’s two cars in the driveway.

“He seemed dazed and confused and I was trying to help him, but he wasn’t responding," Guy said. "He had his window up and I asked him twice if I could help him, if he needed help, and then he seemed to get frightened and went across the street.”

The driver was taken to the hospital. First responders say it appears he may have suffered either a heart attack or perhaps a seizure.
