TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Mountain Vista Fire District broke ground for its second fire station Thursday.

The $4.2 million project will be home to the district's headquarters, administrative offices and training facilities.

"The fire station is designed to provide more support for the crews to be able to contain hazardous wastes and materials and stuff that they deal with everyday," said MVFD Administrative Chief Scott Butler.

The fire station will also include a public meeting room. The district will serve about 23,000 residents in the area.  The project is expected to finish by the end of this year.
