Funds for Tucson shooting victims combinedPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Several funds set up to aid the victims of the shooting in Tucson have been combined into one.
The combined "Tucson Together Fund" will handle all donations gathered by a variety of groups set up after the Jan. 8 shooting of 19 people, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
Six people died, and Giffords was shot in the head and is recovering at a rehabilitation center in Houston.
The fund combines efforts by Pima County and federal prosecutors, Safeway, and private groups that were gathering money to help the victims.
Contributions will be held in one authorized fund to make sure donors' money is used as intended and that more of it gets to the victims.
