Some state lawmakers annoyed with immigration distractionPosted: Updated:
There's growing frustration over efforts to revive the so-called "Birthright Bill" to deny automatic citizenship to the U.S. born children of illegal immigrants.
The measure, which died in committee this week, would put Arizona law at odds with the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Many lawmakers, democrat and republican, say they've had it with the emphasis on immigration issues and want the focus instead on the state budget.
To draw attention to that situation Wednesday the boycott Arizona group was at the state capitol.
It wants to remind lawmakers that with new measures being proposed, such as the birthright bill, Arizonans could be at odds with groups that otherwise might spend money here.
