Card skimmers found at Oro Valley gas stationsPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- You might want to pay close attention when pumping gas in the Oro Valley area.
The Oro Valley police department says several credit card skimming devices have been found recently.
Residents say they noticed money missing from their bank accounts...Thats when they alerted police.
The suspects use keys to unlocks gas station pumps, Once open, they can download victim's credit card data in about 30 seconds.
"We're not going to say its not safe, but if they look at a gas pump and anything looks suspicious to them. Then we ask that they go and take care of their business inside," said Liz Wright from the Oro Valley Police Department.
Police say its always better to pay in cash when you notice anything suspicious at a gas pump.
OVPD isn't releasing the exact gas stations where customers have been scammed due to the ongoing investigation.
