DOJ regutes gun sale claim; Gun smuggling bust in DouglasPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Department of Justice is refuting claims federal firearms agents approved the sale of two guns used in the December shootout that killed Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
In a letter to federal prosecutors Iowa U.S. Senator Charles Grassley claims he has info that partially corroborates the claim.
Terry died during a December 14 firefight with suspected drug smugglers near Nogales.
And a weapons smuggling bust for Border Patrol agents in Douglas who seized three assault rifles hidden under the hood of a Chevy pickup.
The driver was a 26-year-old woman from Safford.
She was turned over to immigration and customs enforcement, no word yet on charges.
