Tucson police investigate memorial plaque theft

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson Police are investigating vandalism right outside the Tucson Fire Department's headquarters downtown.

Someone stole nine bronze plaques from a memorial by Fire Central, at the corner of Cushing Street and Granada Road, just west of the Tucson Convention Center.

Seven of the plaques were 12 by 12 inches and two were 12 by 18 inches.

The plaza remembers "Barrio el Hoya" the neighborhood that was bulldozed in the 1960s to make way for the TCC.

Tucson police are looking for anyone who knows something about this. Call 911 or 88-CRIME.
