New border-security plan from Dept. of Homeland Security

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Department of Homeland Security is set to reveal a new plan to deal with security at the border.

Ryan O’Donnell was at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base for Tuesday’s big announcement.

While the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which is part of DHS, has not released any specifics yet, the plan reportedly will bring several agencies together in what will be a new model for border security.

This is something that has been in the works for a couple of years. The new model will be built on a military-type command system that incorporates federal, state, tribal and local law-enforcement agencies. The idea is that all of them will be working together to protect our border with Mexico.

This enforcement change is expected to be the new way of doing things for several years to come.

Details will be updated as they become available.
