LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- Six sixth-grade students at a Litchfield Park school were taken to area hospitals Friday after another student was caught handing out prescription pills on the playground.
A teacher at Wigwam Creek Middle School saw the activity and stopped it, according to Detective Aaron Douglas with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Four students were transported by ambulance and two other children were taken to hospitals by their parents.
There is no word on their conditions at this time.
Douglas said individually packaged marijuana and an assortment of prescription medication were found in the suspected student's backpack. It unknown how many were found.
Child Protective Services is investigating the incident.
The school is located near Dysart and Indian School roads.
A search warrant is being drafted to search the residence of the student's father.
