Woman found safe after reported abduction in Glendale

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Police are investigating a reported abduction at knife point in Glendale Friday morning.

A woman, in her 20s, called police from her cell phone and said she was tied up and being held in the back of her car.

The abduction reportedly happened at Mensendick Elementary School near Missouri and 67th avenues shortly after 8 a.m.

Officers from the Glendale and Phoenix police departments found the vehicle near 63rd Avenue and Monte Vista Road. They freed the victim from the gray car and took a suspect into custody.

Police believe the victim was trying to go to work when the abduction occurred.

There were no reports of any injuries. Police are still investigating the incident.

The school district told 3TV none of the children at the elementary school were ever in any danger.
