GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Police say a disgruntled man may have abducted his girlfriend.

Officers say Thomas Watson, 47, became very despondent after an argument and subsequent breakup with his girlfriend, identified as Tara Shermerhorn, 31.

Police say they responded to a missing persons call Thursday at about 5 a.m. Watson reportedly left a note saying, “This is it.”

Shermerhorn was reportedly supposed to pick up her niece from school Thursday but never showed up. Her vehicle remains at her home.

Police say they picked up Watson's mobile phone signal Wednesday night in Yavapai County along Interstate 17 north of Phoenix. The phone has since been turned off.

Authorities also picked up a signal from Shermerhorn's cell phone and it appears to have been left near the Crown King area.

Shermerhorn was last seen at her workplace at about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Watson was last seen in his blue 1999 Ford F-150 with South Dakota license plate 59K090.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office is assisting with this investigation.
