SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. -- Pinal County sheriff's deputies arrested a 72-year-old San Tan Valley man after he reportedly confessed to molesting four children.

Sheriff's spokesman Tim Gaffney said Salvador Valentin went to the sheriff's office and admitted molesting a 9-year-old family acquaintance and three other children over the past 30 years. The crimes occurred in Pinal and Maricopa counties, New York and Rhode Island.

The 9-year-old victim reported that Valentin had been molesting her since she was 6.

According to Gaffney, Valentin told detectives he was planning to travel in his motor home to California but wanted to "come in first and confess to get this off his chest."

Valentin reportedly told detectives that he gets sexual gratification by just looking at young girls and that he cannot stop himself. He said he needs help and admitted that he needs to go to jail.

Valentin was taken into custody Friday and booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for 25 counts of child molestation.

Gaffney said these counts are for the Pinal County case. Detectives will be working with other law enforcement agencies to identify other victims and additional charges are pending.
