PHOENIX -- A 42-year-old man has been arrested for murder after police say he intentionally crashed his SUV into a car in a suicide attempt.
David Mark Buot was traveling east near Pinnacle Peak and Scottsdale roads on Oct. 22 when he crossed over the center of the roadway and drove his Toyota 4-Runner into oncoming traffic, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Buot collided head-on with a Mercedes Benz driven by Christine Anderson, 49.
Anderson died of her injuries, but Buot survived.
Thompson said police detectives determined that Buot intentionally crashed into the car in a failed suicide attempt.
Buot was arrested Thursday evening and booked into the Maricopa County Jail. He is charged with second-degree murder.
"Her loss has been and will continue to be a life-altering experience for me, my three sons, and for all who were fortunate enough to have known her," Anderson's husband said.
