TUCSON, Ariz. --Residents in the Tucson Unified School District got a chance to meet their new superintendent Wednesday.

John Pedicone took part in a meet and greet sponsored by the Tucson Education Association.

About 25 people attended the Catalina Magnet High School event.

People asked questions such as where he sees the district in the next year.

"We're looking at how to make the system work effectively.  Then we're really going to put an emphasis.  When you look at the achievement data in this district, that be our emphasis and that's where we're going," said Pedicone.

The TUSD governing board unanimously approved hiring Pedicone in November.
