Driver injured after milk tanker truck rolls over in TempePosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe firefighters had to extricate the driver of a milk truck after the tanker rolled over Thursday morning.
It happened at about 6:30 a.m. at Baseline Road and Priest Drive.
The driver reportedly was in serious condition when he was taken to Maricopa County Medical Center.
It was a precarious situation for firefighters dealing not only with the badly injured driver, but also securing the damaged truck.
"Those trucks carry a couple hundred gallons of diesel fuel," said Mike Reichling of the Tempe Fire Department. "We have to secure that, have fire lines out for water in case we do have a fire."
The driver of the tanker was the only person injured in the wreck.
