Highs in the low 70s through the weekend, cool down possible next week

PHOENIX -- It looks like the second half of your work week is going to be a bit warmer than the first half was, but there's the possibility of a significant cool down in the coming days.

A storm front that's passing by to the north of Arizona will bring some breezy conditions to the northern portion of our state. Things are looking pretty calm for the rest of Arizona.

Plan on a high of 70 degrees today under mostly sunny skies. The overnight low will be about 44 in town, and in the mid 30s in the outlying areas.

We'll warm up to an above-average 72 degrees for Thursday and Friday as we head into what should be a lovely weekend.

We could be in for a big cool down by the middle of next week.

There is no rain or snow in the forecast, but there could be a blast of really cold air coming our way, hitting just in time for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which is going on Jan. 31-Feb. 6. The first round of tournament play is Thursday, Feb. 3.
