Tucson shooting victims and heroes honoredPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Monday the Arizona Senate honored the six people who died in the January 8 shooting rampage in Tucson.
Members of the senate read death resolutions for each victim, Dorwin Stoddard, Gabe Zimmerman, Phyllis Schneck, Christina Green, Dorothy Morris and the honorable Judge John Roll.
Representative Kyrsten Sinema knew staffer Gabe Zimmerman personally from his internship at the state capitol.
"Gabe was an incredible social worker and an absolutely incredible young man. Thank you."
Sinema called the attack sensless and extended sympathy to family and friends of the victims.
The victims and heroes of the Tucson shooting also will be remembered at the State of the Union speech.
The White House says intern Daniel Hernandez, who helped care for Giffords until help arrived, will be seated with First Lady Michelle Obama.
The family of 9-year-old Christina Green, who was killed, will also sit with the First Lady.
And the surgeons from UMC also plan to attend.
