MESA, Ariz. -- Police say a man ordered a drink at a Mesa business then robbed the employees at gunpoint Monday evening.

Detective Michael Melendez said officers responded to an armed robbery call at Bahama Buck's near Southern Avenue and Mesa Drive shortly after 6 p.m.

Two female employees told the officers that the suspect entered the shaved-ice shop and ordered a drink. He then reportedly produced a small handgun and demanded money.

Melendez said an employee opened the register and the suspect grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash then fled the scene on foot.

Police officers checked the area but did not find the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, with a possible goatee. He was wearing blue jeans and a tan jacket with stripes at the time of the robbery.

No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mesa Police Department.
