Arizona beats Washington 61-58 to snap 3-game skidPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Davellyn Whyte scored 15 points Thursday night as Arizona beat Washington 61-58 to snap a three-game losing streak.
Candice Warthen and Ify Ibekwe added 10 points each for the Wildcats (12-5, 3-3 Pac-10), who won despite shooting 37 percent from the field and going scoreless for 6 1/2 minutes in the second half.
Regina Rogers led Washington (7-9, 2-5) with 14 points, but was called for a charging foul moments before what would have been a game-tying basket with 18.7 seconds left.
The Huskies, trailing 60-58, got two more chances when Arizona's Shanita Arnold missed a free throw with 15.5 seconds left and Ibekwe hit only 1 of 2 with 2.7 seconds left.
But Washington turned the ball over with 4.1 seconds left, and Charmaine Barlow's running half-court shot at the buzzer was off the mark.
