Rep. Giffords leaves UMC for rehab in HoustonPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will be moved to a rehabilitation center in Houston later this morning, just 13 days after being shot in the head at point-blank range.
Mark Kelly, Giffords' husband, talked about the move to TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital during a news conference at University Medical Center in Tucson Thursday morning.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., Giffords was taken by ambulance from University Medical Center to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base for the flight to Houston. She will be accompanied by Kelly, her mother, a trauma surgeon and and ICU nurse.
