Gov. Brewer calls special session to cut MedicaidPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Governor Jan Brewer called a special session Wednesday, asking lawmakers to approve a request to cut Medicaid enrollment by one-fifth.
That would take 280,000 people off of the 'AHCCCS' health care rolls in Arizona.
It's a cornerstone of the governor's budget plan, as it would save the state more than $500 million, which is about half of Arizona's total budget shortfall.
