Police search Glendale neighborhood for suspected car thief

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Glendale police officers are searching for a suspect who reportedly stole a car in Phoenix.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Glendale police officer stopped a vehicle near 47th Avenue and Bethany Home Road after the driver failed to yield.

Police confirmed that the car was stolen from Phoenix and other officers were dispatched to the scene.

Glendale police spokesman Officer Gerald Sydnor said the male driver got out of the car and fled from the officers.

Sydnor said a female occupant was taken into custody and is being questioned.

Officers have set up a perimeter and are searching for the driver. He is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket and hat.
