PHOENIX – The son of Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, who is a police officer, is under investigation by his own department.
Phoenix Officer Jeffrey Gordon is on administrative leave while an internal investigation is being conducted for “inappropriate contact while on duty.”
A spokesperson with the department said no picture of Gordon was available because it was sealed by court order.
The mayor released the following statement Wednesday morning:
"As Mayor, I cannot comment on a pending Police Department personnel matter. I can comment as Jeff's father. I love my son very much. I've always been proud of his unblemished record and his 6 years service to our community. I have and will continue to support him through these allegations, as any dad would do for his son."
Chief of Police Jack Harris says he has taken himself out of the chain of command in this case in order to avoid a conflict of interest.
