Armed suspect on the loose in West Phoenix neighborhoodPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- One armed suspect is on loose and a second is in custody after shots were fired at a West Phoenix home early Tuesday morning.
Police were called out to the area of 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road just after 4 a.m. As many as 15 shots were reported.
Two suspects reportedly were seen trying to force their way into a home.
Police took one man into custody as he tried to run from the scene, but a second man got away. A perimeter was set up and the neighborhood was locked down as officers went door to door in search of that suspect.
"There are strong indications that drugs are involved in this," said Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department. "In the initial protective sweep of the home our officers conducted this morning, they found scales, packaging material, and what appears to be drugs."
Officers were awaiting a warrant to search the home further.
At this point, no injuries have been reported.
Details will be updated as they become available.
