PHOENIX – A bank robbery suspect was apprehended after reportedly causing a crash while attempting to flee from police.
Preliminary information indicates a Hispanic man robbed a bank near Glendale and 19th avenues Friday afternoon.
Police say a customer got into a physical altercation with the suspect, causing a bleeding wound on the suspect’s head.
The alleged robber fled on foot and tried to carjack a taxi cab that ended up crashing into a pole.
The suspect ran from the scene and stole a bicycle from a residence in the area. Police spotted the suspect just south of 21st Avenue.
The alleged robber was taken into custody. Officers reportedly found a large amount of cash and an unknown amount of drugs on him.
