Bank of America outage halts online banking for somePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Some Bank of America customers have been unable to access their accounts through BofA's web site or mobile apps on Friday.
Colleen Haggerty, a spokesperson for the nation's largest bank said the outage is currently only affecting a "subset" of customers and that the majority of customers can still bank online. Haggerty said the outage was due to a routine system change and it will in no way affect customer information or security.
Reports of the outage first appeared on Twitter early this morning as some Bank of America customers requested assistance from @BofA_Help. Online support personnel from the bank have responded with personalized posts similar to this reply from @JennaGlynn: "We are aware of the problem and are working to get things sorted as swiftly as possible. We regret the interruption."
