PHOENIX -- The mass shooting outside a Safeway Tucson has dominated news coverage here and all over the country all week. It's traumatic for adults to watch, but it can be even more confusing for children, especially since a 9-year-old girl was killed.
It's difficult to know how to deal with a child who might be showing signs of fear in the wake of the shooting and pervasive news coverage.
Dr. Kimberly Carroll, a clinical psychologist who works closely with children, shared some suggestions on what parents might do with Tara Hitchcock.
