Mesa man confesses to producing child pornographyPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. – A man was arrested on child molestation charges after investigators discovered numerous items including video of the alleged assaults.
Brandon K. Jones, 26, was arrested by Mesa police Friday in connection with several child sexual misconduct crimes involving a 5-year-old male victim.
While investigating a child pornography case based in Boston, Massachusetts, detectives developed information that a man in Mesa may have ongoing access to a child and was producing homemade child pornography.
Detectives served a search warrant at the home Jones shares with his mother. Among the items found during the search were items reportedly seen in the alleged pornographic videos. Detectives also allegedly found child pornography on Jones’ laptop computer.
Jones returned home as the search warrant was being executed and was taken into custody. Police say that Jones confessed to molesting the victim and videotaping the crime during a custodial interview.
Mesa Police Chief Frank Milstead says, “The arrest of Brandon Jones should serve as a warning to those who prey on the innocent children in our communities. Investigating those who victimize our children will remain a top priority of the Mesa Police Department.”
Jones faces charges including three counts of sexual conduct with a minor and four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Additional charges are pending in this case.
