An inmate serving time for auto and identity theft walked away from a work crew near downtown Tucson Friday afternoon.
The Arizona Department of Corrections said Michael Morris, 46, was part of a crew working near 22nd Street and 10th Avenue. That's just east of Interstate 10.
Morris was recaptured late Friday afternoon.
The Department of Corrections says Morris was sentenced in Pima County to 2.5 years for theft of identification. He arrived in the prison system on April 14, 2010.
The department dispatched search teams, including bloodhound dogs, to search for Morris.
It says it considers Morris "non-violent" and said he was a minimum security prisoner.
