DECATUR, Ill. (AP) -- Decatur Electronics has announced plans to move its manufacturing plant from the central Illinois community to Arizona.

According to the Herald & Review in Decatur, the company plans to begin moving its facilities from Decatur to Phoenix on Thursday, with the expectation the move will be completed in 90 days. The company says the move will not disrupt services or delivery of products.

According to company officials, the relocation of manufacturing to a 50,000 square foot facility near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport will result in the elimination of an as yet unspecified number of jobs. They say the move is part of a planned strategy.

Decatur Electronics is owned by Bowmer and Kirkland of the United Kingdom. The company manufactures police radar and other traffic enforcement products for police agencies.
