Formal charges expected today in Pratt beatingPosted: Updated:
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. -- Casa Grande police say they have arrested a man in connection with the Christmas Day attack on Arizona Rep. Frank Pratt.
In a news conference Thursday morning, Deputy Chief Don Daniel of the Casa Grande Police Department said Hilyard Scott has been booked into Pinal County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, kidnapping and armed robbery. Formal charges were expected later in the day.
Scott, 34, was originally arrested in an unrelated assault and robbery at the Casa de Topaz Apartments on Dec. 23.
Investigators found several similarities between the Pratt case and the Casa de Topaz case.
Detectives later said they found Scott's shoe print in Pratt's SUV, which was stolen during the attack.
"He [Scott] has made certain incriminating statements to our detectives," Daniel said. The content of those statements has not been released.
