Man robs Scottsdale Subway after ordering sandwichPosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Police say a suspect who robbed a Subway restaurant in Scottsdale Tuesday night might be responsible for a string of Valley robberies.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, a suspect entered the Subway near Bell Road and Thompson Peak Parkway at 8:30 p.m. and ordered a sandwich.
After his sandwich was made, the suspect stood in front of the register, pulled a silver handgun from his pocket and demanded money from the clerk.
He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and left the store on foot. Police officers were not able to find the suspect.
There were no customers in the restaurant and the female clerk and female store manager were the only employees inside at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.
Police believe the suspect is responsible for at least three recent robberies in Scottsdale since December and others in surrounding communities.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male in his mid-20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 165 pounds. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and a dark cap at the time of the robbery.
