Freeze breaks pipes at Gilbert high schoolPosted: Updated:
GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) -- Two Gilbert high schools were hit with broken pipes over the holidays.
The cafeteria at Highland High School is closed indefinitely as crews repair damage from a broken water pipe.
Gilbert Unified School District spokeswoman Dianne Bowers tells the East Valley Tribune about two feet of water poured into the Highland High cafeteria.
The district called in emergency crews to deal with the initial cleanup and engineers are currently assessing the damage.
A frozen coil led to flooding in a building at Campo Verde High School. The hallway and about 13 rooms received some water damage. All but three rooms were being used when classes resumed Monday.
