Man robs Scottsdale shoe store

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Scottsdale shoe store Monday night.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, a 23-year-old female clerk was alone in the Nine West store near Shea Boulevard and 90th Street at 8 p.m. when a man entered and asked about shoes.

After a few minutes, the clerk reportedly became suspicious of the suspect's behavior and attempted to exit the store, but the suspect grabbed her before she could leave.

Police said the suspect pointed a silver handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the store safe. The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect left the store.

The clerk was not injured during the robbery.

The suspect was described as Hispanic or mixed race, in his late 20s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches with a medium build. He was wearing blue jeans, a light gray knitted cap and a light gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect had tattoos on his neck and both hands. He was unshaven with small scars or cuts on his cheeks.
