Tucson police investigate suspicous package; Family loses home in fire

Tucson police kept busy Sunday. They sent an explosives expert to investigate a suspicious object found at a bus stop Sunday morning.

It happened before noon on Golf Links near Wilmot.  After about an hour, investigators learned the device on the bench was not a bomb, but several fireworks taped together.

TPD says they were fireworks that are still illegal in Arizona. It's unclear how the bundle ended up on the bus bench.

A Tucson family of five is without a home after a fire broke out inside their trailer.

It happened at around 1:00 Sunday afternoon at the 6000 block of South Palo Verde.

Two pet birds died in the fire.

"It's hard, it's really hard to come home, you know, thinking you have a home to come to and you have nothing," said Vanessa Durazo.

The Red Cross is assisting the family with food, clothing and shelter.
