Phoenix man arrested in wife's deathPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Police have arrested a Phoenix man in connection with the death of his wife.
According to Sgt. Steve Martos of the Phoenix Police Department, officers received a call from Venus Ross' daughter and son-in-law saying they had not seen her since Christmas Day. They told officers they had tried to check on Ross, 56, but her husband, James Johnson, was not cooperative.
Police went to the home near 35th Avenue and Indian School Road on Saturday and spoke with Johnson. They discovered Ross' body a short time later. Officers said she had suffered apparent trauma.
Investigators arrested Johnson, 68, on a charge of second-degree murder.
Police said Ross and Johnson had been married for more than two years and had a history of domestic violence.
