Valley soldier wounded overseas talks about machine that saved his lifePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Pvt. Eric Griego received a hero's welcome when he arrived at Sky Harbor International Airport Thursday night.
Griego was shot in the chest while guarding a road in southern Afghanistan in October. Since then, he's been recovering in the hospital, first in Germany and then in San Antonio, Texas.
His wounds cost him all of one lung and a portion of the other, but a new machine that was taken into the field for the first time saved his life.
Griego and his mother stopped by 3TV to talk to Tara Hitchcock about his ordeal and his incredible recovery.
