MCSO seeks information on homicide victim

LAVEEN, Ariz. -- A woman who was found dead in Laveen was last seen at a Phoenix Circle K and authorities are seeking information from the public to help solve the case.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit is requesting information on Brittany Jasmine Hines, 19, who was found dead on Dec. 18 near 61st Avenue and Elliot Road in Laveen.

Shortly after identifying Hines through fingerprints, investigators learned that she had a baby daughter who was missing.

Authorities said Heaven Marie Smith was found after someone turned her over to the California Department of Child Services on Dec. 17. Investigators do not know who left the child with DCS.

According to the sheriff's office, Hines was at a Circle K on McDowell Road at either 51st Avenue or 59th Avenue on Dec. 15. She was wearing a purple shirt (as seen in photo above) with a denim skirt and calf-high black boots.
