PHOENIX - A car hit two pedestrians crossing a Phoenix street early Saturday morning, killing one and seriously injuring the other.
According to Phoenix police, two men, ages 52 and 53, were walking across McDowell Road near 24th Street when they were struck by a 2007 Chevy Avalanche at approximately 2:30 a.m.
The 34-year-old female driver was traveling westbound on McDowell Road. After the collision, the driver lost control of the SUV and slammed into a traffic signal.
The 53-year-old man died on scene. The second man was taken to the hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
The driver sustained minor injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision.
