Car plows through Phoenix bankPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - It was a rough start to Christmas Eve for two women in Phoenix after they had to be extricated from their vehicle.
A blue Honda Ridgeline plowed right through the front doors of a Wells Fargo bank at Seventh Street and Glendale Avenue.
There was a lot of broken glass as firefighters worked to get the driver, in her mid-50s and her elderly mother out of the vehicle by removing the bank's doors.
“I think they were probably just trying to pull up and it’s hard to say at this point in time if there was a vehicle problem or a mistake between the gas pedal and brake,” said Captain Tony Muir. “We don't know.”
Just moments before the crash, bank employees were standing near the front doors, but no one was injured.
