No-burn day in Maricopa County on Christmas Eve

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX - Residents of Maricopa County will not be able to light a fire on Christmas Eve as a no-burn day has been declared.

Forecasters say weather conditions on Friday will create conditions ideal for the buildup of unhealthy haze.

The no-burn day means no fires in wood-burning fireplaces, fire pits or chimneys. It applies to both real wood and manufactured logs.

Those in violation of the ban could be fined $250.

The ban could extend into Friday, along with a high-pollution advisory for the area.
