PHOENIX – A suspected serial robber has been taken into custody by Phoenix police.

Dwayne Watson, 26, was arrested for allegedly robbing up to 35 businesses across the city.

Investigators say that between Sept. 19 and Nov. 15 Watson would walk into Fry’s grocery stores, Circle K convenience stores and fast food restaurants armed with a gun and would demand cash.

On Nov. 18 Phoenix police located Watson at an apartment complex where he barricaded himself for several hours before surrendering.

Police did not release information about the arrest until Dec. 21 because detectives had to conduct photo line-ups with a large group of witnesses.

During one robbery Watson allegedly shot at a security guard while fleeing the scene. He faces charges including aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons and probation violation.
