Suns get defensive with 6-player dealPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix is a team that relies on its prolific offense, has been for years.
After the first blockbuster trade of the NBA season, the Suns may actually have some defense to go with it.
Phoenix added some size in the middle and defense on the Orlando on Sunday, adding
guard Vince Carter, swingman Mickael Pietrus (pee-AY'-troos) and center Marcin Gortat.
The Suns also picked up a 2011 first-round draft pick in the deal that sent Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson and little-used forward Earl Clark to the Magic.
Carter is the marquee name, but Gortat is the anchor to this deal, a physical presence who spent the past three seasons as an understudy to All-Star Dwight Howard.
