GLENDALE, Ariz. – The body of a missing Glendale woman was discovered in her parked car minutes away from where she lived.

Maria Chagolla, 50, was reported missing Wednesday after she dropped off her son near 87th Avenue and Butler and was never seen again.

Neighbors say they saw her 2003 Chevy Suburban parked near a sign in the area of 81st Avenue and Glendale on Thursday.

Residents called 911 about the car five days after Chagolla was reported missing.

Sgt. Brent Coombs, with Glendale police, says, “So we go out there to take a look. When we go out there we find Mrs. Chagolla’s SUV and, when we look a little bit further inside, unfortunately we find her body.”

Police have not released details on when or how Chagolla died. A distant relative with the same name says she has a large family in town and she had lost her own husband earlier this year.

Detectives have not released any suspect information at this time.
