Inmate released from 4th Avenue Jail by mistake in custody

PHOENIX – An inmate who was accidentally released from 4th Avenue Jail Friday has been taken into custody in Flagstaff.

The inmate, Scott Bruce, is charged in multiple crimes including kidnapping, burglary, sexual abuse, aggravated assault and unlawful imprisonment.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says Bruce was released from the 4th Avenue Jail Friday morning due to a clerical error by the courts.

Sheriff's deputies checked the Greyhound bus station in Phoenix and were able to track Bruce on a 5:30 p.m. bus to Flagstaff.

Police waited for Bruce at the station in Flagstaff and took him into custody.
