PHOENIX – A man has been found guilty on all counts for the killing of a Gilbert teenager.

Jonathan Burns, 29, was found guilty of first-degree murder, sexual assault, kidnapping and weapons misconduct.

Prosecutors argued that Burns shot 19-year-old Jackie Hartman on their first date on Jan. 28, 2007. Her body was not found until a month later buried in the desert in Fountain Hills.

Burns initially argued that he had dropped Hartman off to meet her family but she was never seen again.

Detectives later found torn clothing riddled with bullets that belonged to Hartman near Burns’ Mesa house.

Burns could face the death penalty.
