Arizona economic 'stress' level among nation's highest

Posted: Updated:

Arizona is feeling the brunt of a struggling economy more than most states.

The Associated Press analyzed something called "Economic Stress," which is calculated based on unemployment, foreclosure, and bankruptcy rates.

And while the nation's overall "Economic Stress" level is at an 18-month low, some states just aren't seeing as many signs of recovery.

Nevada, Florida, California, Michigan, and Arizona had the worst scores, meaning those states have the worst combination of unemployment, foreclosure, and bankruptcy.

The national average is 9.9.

Anything above 11 is considered stressed.
