Suspect attacks Chandler man, steals weapons from home

CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Police officers are searching for a suspect who assaulted a Chandler homeowner and stole several weapons Thursday morning.

According to Chandler police Sgt. Joe Favazzo, a suspect confronted a 72-year-old man at a home near McQueen and Ray roads. The suspect reportedly hit and kicked the man then stole several weapons and other items from the home.

The suspect fled on a bike and was seen on foot in the area of Hamilton Street and Ray Road.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Chandler High School, Galveston Elementary and St. Mary-Basha Catholic School were placed on lockdown during the search.

The suspect was not located. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 150 pounds, wearing a black jacket, black pants and a ball cap. He may have a white T-shirt under the jacket.
